Nursery bedding?

So, the plan for baby is for her to stay in her bassinet in our bedroom for the first few months so I wasn't worrying at all about a crib much less bedding for the crib. But recently my mom got mad at me because I said I didn't want bedding for the crib. To me it just doesn't make sense-you're not supposed to have anything in the crib with them anyway and we have plenty of crib sheets so why spend money on bedding? Am I the only one who feels this way or is there actually a need for crib bedding when she's first born?
