Mucus Plug Question (No Pics please )

Ok so my first pregnancy, my water broke and I got a straight shot for the hospital and I was in labor.  This time I have lost my mucus plug, and oh by Jesus that shit is gross...but seriously I thought it would be one big glob and then done.  This has been going on for 2 days !  How big is this mysterious mucus plug?  How long were you shedding the pussy snot before it was done?
