I have the mirena coil and a low hormone pill loestrin 20 as my hormones starting was making me unstable after 3 years of the Iud. Probably the best contraception yet.. As I can't have a high dose of hormones! X

Sometimes doctors prescribe a combination pill for IUD and implant users so manage bleeding, as irregular bleeding and spotting are very common with progestin only methods.

It's only dangerous if you have issues with taking the oestrogen in the combo pills.
Other than that, it's just to keep your uterine lining stable and to have regular and scheduled bleeds.

I suppose if you had two different doctors that weren't aware of it. One that inserted your iud and the other prescribing your pills. I think it would really mess with your system bring doubled up on hormones and can't think of why anyone would do this. It's not like it will give you double protection. Either method is pretty effective if taken or inserted properly.
