Sex while dilated?

I went to the dr. today and they said I'm 1cm dilated, but not effaced. Is it safe to still have sex? Currently 34 weeks 5 days.

As a midwife i would have put you on pelvic floor rest. You're still classified as premature so anything to encourage labour, which sex does is a big no no.

Yes! As long as your water hasn't broke or your doctor hasn't put you on pelvic rest, it is fine!

Yes! Sperm will help to soften the cervix. I am 1.5cm dilated and we are still having sex and doc recommends it. 😊

I had sex as regularly as I could (bad hip pain) up until a day or 2 before I went into labor at 39w 2d. Sperm can help ripen your cervix but it isn't going to instantly send you into labor. If you orgasm you may have slight contractions for a bit after but they go away and everything will be fine. Baby ain't coming til baby is ready.
