Am I a mean mama? 
Everytime my husband mentions vacations I imagine them WITHOUT our kids. I love taking our kids to local things such as camping or amusement parks.... But other than that, I need some me time!  My husband cannot believe that I would want to go to Mexico without the kids. And if they ever found out that we were going without them they would be devastated! I can't help it. I want some time to relax. Am I a mean mom?

A vacation with young kids isn't much of a vacation is the same as at home just not at home. Actually watching at home is easier. You need your me time

Alternate kids/no kids or do two smaller cheaper vacations. We went to London without my kids and they were 7 and 5 at the time.

Absolutely not! My birthday is in a couple weeks and the ONLY thing I want is a baby free night and day and I hope to God I get it! Lol

My husband and I plan to do one adults only vacation/getaway every year - even if it's just for a night or two around our anniversary. We want to start instituting that early so it's just something we do and something our kids expect. They'll spend time at grandma's house while we're away, and then we of course will do family vacations as well. But I think alone time for you and your husband is vital - keeping your marriage strong is the best thing you can possibly do for your kids, and sometimes, that means your husband and you come first. It doesn't make you a mean mom.

Maybe tell your kids that where you're going is adults-only.

That's sorta how I am. I want to take my son and stepdaughter somewhere but first I want to go somewhere just me and my husband. He wants to go somewhere with them first then just us next year and i'm selfish and get bitchy about that idea lmao.

We are planning on getting baby very comfy with grandparents so we can go away and not worry. I'm guessing within first year we'll try for one night.

We do vacations with the kids most of the time and every now and then we do one for just the two of us...usually on our anniversary. Vacations are memory makers! I agree with the other comment, some of my best memories growing up are family vacations.

If you never want to take your kids on an actual vacation then to me that's kind words of selfish.

We take some vacays with our kids and we purposefully take some without our kids. Our marriage is important and it's important to stay connected and be happy in our marriage. So we take trips and date nights alone sometimes. It doesn't make you a bad mom to want to do that. Then there are trips where we take our kids and we love every second of it :)

You're not mean. But I can't imagine a vacation without my babies. I wouldn't enjoy it. Maybe it's because mine is just 3 and I'm pregnant with the second. Maybe once they're older I'll be more annoyed! We have discussed a second honeymoon for our 10 year anniversary and would do that without the kids though.
