Motherly love pains

Anyone ever heard of mothers sensing or getting the same pains their child is having? Even if they aren't near each other. Or feeling sad and sensing their child is sad. What do you think makes this happen? Like without their child telling them that they are upset about something. My mother breast fed and says that she knows when I'm going through something cause she gets a pain in her breast and she calls me and sure as shooting she's right.
