Why does everyone care about someone's race ?!

You always hear small comments like oh that person does that because they are black or this person does that because they are white or any other race. I just don't see why people can't get passed the color of someone's skin and just like them for their personality or the person that they are. And I hate when people give the excuse "well my parents raised me that way", you shouldn't get your ideas from your parents, and I 100% believe in people having their own independent opinions about any topic, I just don't see why because your parents raised you that way means that you have to be that way. Racism isn't okay and I don't see how it still continues today in little smart comments and jokes here and there. Just because it's a joke doesn't mean that it isn't racist, it just continues the idea.
