What happened to just being a good parent? Now we're rewarding parents for doing the right thing? I thought it was considered truancy to not send your kids to school and you could get fined or go to jail. Now you get a damn 150$, yet there are kids who have perfect attendance and get nothing. Ugh.

No no no see when did we start bribing people to do what they are suppose to.  This is the same as telling your toddler HEY if you'll stop throwing a tantrum or making a mess I'll give you a soda!  It is a parents RESPONSIBILITY to ensure there child has the best chance at life.  The parents responsibility NOT the states.

I happen to work for this school system and I'm embarrassed.  I have no school supplies, no books for my kiddos, we get $50.00 reimbursed back to us. Heck I spent that in the first week back to school!! I make a messily 40k a year, I'm 90k in debt and Yet we have to buy our own computer paper to print stuff for the students, and your giving parents $150 to send your kid to school. Makes me sick.

A friend of mine back handed a kid because this brat shoved his grandma into a shelf unit.

They already gave rewards to kids for good attendance and grades of money/clothes/class breaks/goodies, or at least they did when I was in grade school and I live in bumble fuck nowhere.

This is just extending it the the parents, some of which don't care where their kids are during the day. Those people exist, I'm sorry to say and money has sway over many people.
