Baby shower??

So I'm a little miffed. The other day my mother was asking if anyone had talked to me about my baby shower and I told her a couple friends had asked when I was going to have it, but no planning has really been going on. I mentioned getting my mom's help and all of a sudden she flips out and starts fussing about how I can't throw my own shower and it's bad luck for family to throw it for me and I'm just sitting there thinking how I really don't have anyone else to throw it for me, my best friend lives in another state.

I mentioned it to my SO yesterday about how I guess I would just have to do it myself anyway and he got upset and asked if he could do it for me, insisting I was going to have one.

I don't know, just the whole thing with my mom irritated the crap out of me. Anybody else had similar issues?
