Any Other Teachers? Need Advice.
So long story short, as a special needs teacher, I have students who are physically and emotionally demanding, and on top of that, the parents don't support us at all. I have always worked my tail off until I am stressed and drained, yet I feel llike I am constantly defending myself from parents who complain of we inform them of an issue that we aren't able to handle on our own in class, and the higher ups always telling us we should have tried harder or done more. I am done.
This morning I tried to call in at 5am to let them know that I am sick and can't make it, just to be told that it is too late to call in. Seriously?
I really want to move into a resource position, but my principal doesn't want to move me out of my class because its "too hard to find anybody else" who would do it.
There are openings in my county but I am nervous that nobody will hire me as a transfer for next year since I will be out the first two months of school.
Any advice?
*also I should note that on paper I have 2 assistants, however they are 1-1 with a couple of our students with Autism, so as far as the kids who don't have 1-1s I am alone, as the assistants have their hands full!
