You do not "kind of have"....
You do not "kind of have OCD" because you like something clean or have a quirk.
You aren't "OCD" about something just because you prefer things a certain way.
OCD is when having something not a specific way, in a specific order, or not doing something literally causes you to have an anxiety attack or have a meltdown no matter how that flourishes. OCD is picking up the phone and dialing 6 times because the first five weren't right. Not prefering your groceries bagged a certain way.
You don't have a phobia because you are scared of something.
You aren't a germaphobe because you don't like some things dirty.
You don't have social anxiety because you prefer smaller crowds.
You don't have bipolar because you have mood swings sometimes.
I am SO SICK of people saying, "I'm kinda OCD about...." or "Sometimes I'm a little bipolar", etc. These are serious illnesses that are not games.
I feel like EVERYONE has a diagnosis now. And they self diagnose themselves because they feel like that's what they are due to a misunderstanding of the symptoms. For example, when I post this...I can forsee EVERYONE commenting and saying which mental illness they have.
Do you feel like mental illnesses are thrown around too lightly? Do you feel like everyone claims to have mental illnesses when they don't understand them? What are your thoughts?
