Trying to conceive for 3 years...

So it's been 3 years I've been trying to conceive and my period was a day late got all excited thinking it's finally happened so I didn't test n within 2 days my period came. Totally bummed again... Anybody else with me on their 3 year mark? Or gone through it for this long? I'm about to give up completely. I have one son and really wanted to give him a sibling he's 6 n keeps asking for one but I don't think I can take the stress of this anymore!
