I think we have bedbugs

So I found a bug in our bed a few weeks ago and I thought it was a baby cockroach. That was bad enough and I freaked out enough about that. Well now that I've been researching more I think it was a bedbug. I have 5 strange bug bite (two on my leg and three on my arm) and I'm pretty scared. We live in a building of over 30 studio apartments. I don't claim to have the cleanest house either. Two people living in one bedroom gets messy. But I didn't think we were that disgusting that we'd get bedbugs!! Should I get my bites checked by a doctor? My boyfriend doesn't believe me and said we'll deal with it if we start seeing more but I'd rather call the landlord now and have the apartment sprayed and everything before it becomes more of a problem. He also says if we had a problem he'd have bites too but my skin is more sensitive and some people don't have reactions to bites at all. What do I do?!?! I don't want to live with bedbugs!! I can't even sleep right now because I feel like bugs are crawling all over me!!
