Child care????

Question

I've recently started to advertise for  child care at my home.  I live in the country and rates are average to low. My question to parents out there is is it all about price or quality? I'm not high but people keep telling me they only want to pay $10/infant per day, that sounds crazy to me. What do y'all think????

That would be $50/week if they were coming full time, that's very low. Typically infants are higher than toddlers. I've worked in childcare for 10 years and never heard of that low of a rate.

That's insane!!! I had to re read to make sure you said $10/DAY!!! I'm not sure what state you live in but I think that's very low. Where I am childcare averages around $18/HOUR for 1 child and $24+/hour for 2 kids

For an infant I'd charge more because they require a lot more from you than a toddler would. Where I live childcare for babies is like $50 per infant, per day. If the kid is at least 3 and potty trained it goes down to like $25 per child per day. If they aren't potty trained it's like $10 more a day but they help you potty train.

Quality is the most important factor! The childcare I worked at charged $27 a day for full time infant care. We provided food and formula. We were on the cheaper end. Some places in bigger cities are more like $40 a day.

I wouldnt leave my child anywhere I wasn't confident the place was licensed,  back round checks for anyone in the home and a slew of other things. Worth spending more for that. But plenty of women need affordable child care.

That's not bad at all my mother does in home day care and she charges 30$ a day for toddlers and even more for infants quality is always best. 10$ a day for an infant is dirt cheap

I pay $30/day for my 2 month old for in home sitter. I think quality of care is most important, some people use the income to supplement, but it doesn't mean you should take advantage of the caregivers either.

My mom works as a nanny. She charges 15/ day on toddlers who are potty trained and eat on their own. 20 for kids that are not potty trained and dont eat on their own.
She does let the parents know that she does not provide food(as in its not included in price, not that she doesn't feed them lol) 
This is only due to alergie restrictions and the fact that obviously some kids eat more than others. The parents provide the meals(bring it in a lunch bag) and she does provide snacks that have been preaproved by parents

That is not worth it. I watch an 18 month old for $5 an hour but it's my good friends daughter and my daughter and her are best friends so it's a win win for all of us.

I'm in Denver and a full time nanny. I have one little boy I care for, 45 hours a week. He is 18 months old. I make $12 an hour. I feel like I can charge more because I am CPR and Red Cross certified.
