Times have changed

Are we really to the point where punishing your child (with a spanking) in public is call to arrest the parent?

Should it be done in private? Yes. But if a child misbehaves in public, by the time you get home, they won't remember what they even did. So you have to deal with it at the time.

I'm not talking about abusing them, but spatting their butt a few times never hurt any of us who did get handled that way.

Everyone I know survived the days of hearing "get out there and cut a switch off the tree" or the wooden spoon.

And you know what? Our parents, and grandparents, were not abusing us!

Why are kids so disrespectful now? Because it's against the law in places to spank your child. You can punish them other ways, but being grounded for something is not as memorable.

Not once have I been like "oh better not do that again, couldn't have any friends over for a week. That was a horrible punishment"

To me, it shows just how entitled and spoiled we are letting society raise our children.
