Formula?

Question

So formula should only be mixed one scoop to every 2 oz water, OK, I get that and I am fine with it. But my baby only drinks 5 oz per bottle. So would it be OK if just after mixing, when the formula is at its freshest, for me to remove an oz into a different clean bottle and chill it while continuing to add an oz at a time throughout the day to save formula?

I had the same issue doctor said mix six ounces and before baby drinks from it separate into a different bottle refrigerate and add to it at next feeding. If you let the baby drink it first there germ can csuse bacteria to grow in the formula so has to be tossed

Yes, i was told by the hospital, pediatrician, and WIC that formula is good in the fridge for up to 48 hours. My little girl only eats 5 ounces too, but I just add a half scoop instead of dealing with leftovers, though.

My hubby and I use a protein-shake shaker bottle (20oz) and make a bunch of formula at once, then pour it out in the increments he’ll actually eat throughout the day, leaving the shaker in the fridge between feedings. It lasts between 10-15 hours for us (4-5 feedings, depending on how hungry he is). The formula specifically says it’s good for up to 24 hours in the fridge. This way we end up only using what we need, and he doesn’t tend to over-eat just because the extra is already in the bottle. He drinks his fill and we can control how much is in the bottle to within 5mL of what he’ll actually eat. We’ve got two shakers, so when one gets low we make another. Just use a bottle warmer (or a bowl of hot water) to heat it up. Works great for us.
