Do you agree with doctors that don't tie tubes based off of personal views?

I have heard so many stories of women who have tried to get their tubes tied for multiple reasons (medical problems, simply don't want children, etc.) and doctors refusing to do it based off of their age or lack of kids. I am training to go into the medical field, and I personally find it ridiculous that doctors would refuse to tie a woman's tubes who physically can't have a child. I am not so much against when a woman just doesn't want kids, they may change their mind or may not, so arm patches or the pill would be better, but when it's medical and their life can be at risk of they get pregnant?
 I believe that doctors should have to tie tubes if it's in the very best interest of the patient. If they don't want to because they're too young and/or they don't have kids, then I say that the woman should be able to sue or something. The oath doesn't say that we will only take care of the patient in a way that we see fit, it says to take care of them in the best way possible to ensure the best quality of health.
 And don't even get me started on religious hospitals that won't do certain procedures because it goes against their religion. That topic is a dormant volcano waiting to explode.

Doctors are allowed to deny non-life-threatening treatment. For example, if a plastic surgeon doesn't think a person is a good candidate for a nose job, the surgeon can refuse to perform the rhinoplasty.

It's the same principle here. The women who are refused can find different doctors.

Also, I'm sure many doctors refuse to perform tubal ligations simply because if a woman later on decides that she DOES want kids and now she physically can't, she might choose to take legal action against the doctor who performed the procedure for her.

I agree with the doctors. You can't force them to do a procedure they don't want to do. Most of them don't do it because the women asking to having it done are young and they don't want to do an irreversible surgery and have the patients regret it later on in life. Even if they can't have kids or whatever the reason, the doctors still have a say because they're the ones performing it.  And really, would you want a doctor who doesn't want to do the procedure to operate on you? You can try and sue, but you won't win. Just keep looking for a doctor that will do it.

The reason it is refused is not personal belief in the Dr's part, it is because even trying the tubes can cause permanent damage and scarring resulting in permanent infertility, just like a vasectomy. Then that woman who does change her mind and wants it reversed suddenly finds out that it's now not reversible and sues the crap out of the dr and the hospital for inadvertently permanently sterilizing her. That's why they don't do it. 
As for religious hospitals.... It's the same thing as working at or going to a church or religious school... Ya don't like their rules and beliefs, go somewhere else, no one is forcing you to use that one hospital.

People in medical field are humans, just like patients have their rights we as care providers have our own rights. We can refuse procedures, medications, because of our religious or personal beliefs, or simply because a patient is not a good candidate. There are many doctors our there who will do what the patient is asking, so it is not a big deal that one doctor is refusing a procedure. It's not like the medical providers have a long list of beliefs that prevent them from practicing and providing best care to patients. We can fire patients just like patients can fire us , I am not wasting my time for someone who doesn't bond with me, doesn't trust me, doesn't follow through or simply disrespects me. I am more than happy to find them another provider or they can find their own.

I think it is a doctor's responsibility to save lives when they can. However, they are not obligated to perform elective procedures.

So no, doctors should not have to tie tubes just because a patient requests it. The patient can find a doctor that will do it, but I think a doctor has every right to refuse to do an elective procedure for personal reasons.

They do this because there's this stereotype that no woman can be happy without children and are baby machines, it's not just religious reasons it's sexism.

This is a tough one! I had my tubes tied and burned at 25 yrs old after my 2nd child. I was in a horrible marriage and absolutely did not want anymore children!!! Now I am remarried and my husband has no kids of his own. 2 yrs ago I had a tubal reversal and did get pregnant early this month which  ended in a miscarriage. I wish I would have chosen birth control instead of the tubal ligation but it was definitely what I wanted at that time. I think the doctors should go over all other options before tubal ligation and if the patient still wants it done then they should respect that and do it.

I think if a women wants it done they should do it, women who get pregnant and don't want to. Alot of abuse happens and I don't think drs see that.... Which truthfully idk how cause I swear it's always one story or another of a women leaving her kids in the trash or killing them and not telling anyone etc. They say no cause a women would "regret" it, but tying your tubes is reversible if the women decides she does want kids after all.
