Can someone please explain

Can someone please explain the temps. Last month I used OPKS and bd exactly how we was suppose too. So this month I want to add temping but where do I start? Does any thermometer work? Vaginally or orally? I think I read you can do either? What time of day do you temp? What exactly does the temps mean? Thanks in advance!
