Why are prams/ travel systems so expensive??

Ok, im just past 12w so decided to give myself the chance to have a little look online at prams etc.

I'm completely outraged and disgusted at the price of these things- anyone else?

I know there are safetly regs etc to comply with but i just dont understand how companies can justify charging so much for essentially plastic framed prams with cotton fabric hoods etc. Theres no way its costs anywhere near £900 plus to make them.

Anyone else with me? Surely something needs to be done here.....The companies need to be called out!

They charge that much because they can. It is absolutely ridiculous, and there are some that offer cheaper options but if someone is willing to pay that much, why not charge it?

All car seats have to follow to same minimum standards, so you are providing the same safety regardless of price!

I've found one from a suggestion by another woman on here called Urbini omni 3 in 1 travel system and its 200$ for car seat, base, bassinet, and stroller. Not too bad compared to others.

Its not that I can't afford the prices, myself and my husband are fortunate. But I don't like the idea that I'm being taken advantage of because I'm a mum-to-be. Its vile tactics by these global companies.

Not everyone has a massive budget or wants to pay that much. But you almost feel pressured to buy something expensive because its for you child and you are being marketed at with the hard hitting "safety" requirements (which someone mentioned are across the board anyway?) Your right its totally just because its "baby" products that hikes the prices!!

You put "baby" in front of anything and you can double the price. I think these companies just know that if it's more expensive, parents will assume it's better. I totally agree that it's all ridiculous! If you want to save money, try and put things on layaway, buy secondhand, or ask some friends or family if they have leftover products. Your baby definitely won't care if it's not brand-new! 😆

I want the silver cross pioneer and it's like £800 for everything it's a joke then nursery furniture from mamas and papas is cheaper then that and had a cot wardrobe and chest of draws , Prams are a rip of x
