Pain Medicine?!

I'm attempting a vaginal delivery after 2 sections. I've never had natural child birth (except for my MC), but that was pretty early on. I've had friends tell me the pain down there is pretty bad afterwards, 2 of them said it feels like everything is going to "fall out of you." 😳 Ummmm, so obviously they provide pain medicine after surgery, but will they after a vaginal birth? I'm really scared they're just gonna want to give me Tylenol if I'm in bad pain, haha!

They give pain meds in the hospital but I'm pretty sure it's only Tylenol, I never got sent home with any and I gave vaginal birth 3 times... But your friend isn't lying, it's pretty painful, I never had to have stitches but I'm sure that's even worse, going pee is extremely dreaded cuz it burns so badddd and you bleed for a long while afterwards and it smells like dead flesh... The joys of being a mommy ;) congrats tho mama!! I wish you the very best!

I honestly didn't have much pain at all after birth and had a second degree tear. I'm sure if you were in a lot of pain they would give you something stronger but I was fine with panadol.
I also don't have a very high pain tolerance :)

I'm a midwife here in Australia, so it's possibly different for you, but we don't routinely give medication to a woman after a delivery, we can nurse initiate some medications such as paracetamol and ibuprofen if the lady asks us for a bit of pain relief.

Meds are really only charted by the doctors if there is a significant tear routinely.

I've found that not that many women complain regarding the pain, they walk around slowly and sit down slowly due to the pain, but if you have more than usual pain, I would let the person looking after you know so that they can review it. I've always told my patients that after birth it is somewhat like a sports injury in that it's swollen, often feels hot and sore, so we make these ice condom things that you just put into your undies on top of the pad. It helps numb the area and reduce the swelling.

I didn't have any bad tearing, but I also had no drugs. They automatically gave everyone a couple of pain medicines. It just stings like crazy to pee, but they give you a bottle of warm water to squirt with and that makes it fine.
