8 weeks - am I having a miscarriage?/unhelpful doctor :(

Morning Ladies, I'm feeling quite lost this morning. I have had light brown spotting for the last couple of days (which I wasn't too concerned about) but last night when I wiped after going to to the toilet there were some small dark red clots. Sorry for detail. I haven't been having any cramping/pain and felt nauseous yday  as I have done since week 4. Anyway went to A and E last night just to get checked out as had a bit of a panic. The doctor pressed my abdominals to check for pain (of which there was none) and then said that it could be a miscarriage but it also may not be and to wait to do a pregnancy test in a few days. I asked about having a scan and he said that that is not something they offer this early on. So basically I've just got to wait to see if I bleed any more and then take a test. I feel so numb :(

Morning Ladies, thank you everyone for commenting and for your support. Unfortunately I had a heavy bleed over the weekend and I have lost my baby. Absolutely beside myself. Wishing you all the best with your December babies xxxx

Hi Lorraine, it is pretty awful as feel properly stuck in limbo but I am going to carry on as though I am still pregnant until I am told otherwise. To be honest I think I am a couple of weeks earlier that the date my doctor suggested so hopefully baby is just too small at the moment and will appear on the next scan. Really hoping so :) X

Just back from the scan - it's inconclusive :( they said that I haven't miscarried as there is a sack but that they are unsure if there is anything in it because it was too small to tell. I was told that this either means that we are not as far along as we thought (for the size of the sack to align date wise) or that it's has not developed. Got to go back for another scan in 2 weeks :( so not a negative outcome but I still don't know what's happening

Thank you to everyone again that replies. I have seen my doctor this morning and she has been really helpful. She has referred me to the EPU -my appointment is tomorrow afternoon. Although I've got a bit of a wait I'm just happy that I've been taken seriously and that something is being done :) trying to stay positive

Thank you both for replying. My local EPU only allows you to go in once you are referred by a GP or midwife. Neither my GP or midwife are contactable over the weekend. I think I would be better off going to the EPU as feel as though I was fobbed off in a and e. I have had some more red clothing today but only when I wipe so not in huge volumes. I'm trying to stay calm as know that stress will not help. At the moment my plan is to speak to my GP or midwife first thing Minday morning and get a referral to to the EPU. I know there isn't really anything that can be done about the outcome but the not knowing is the awful part!

I am so sorry you are going through this and I can't help feeling that the A&E doc was not very helpful. Have you been able to speak to a midwife or your GP? Can you get an urgent referral to your women's hospital for an early scan? 
I had an early a scan via this route when I had some spotting at 8 weeks (my midwife had told me to call my GP with any concerns prior to 17 weeks). Not sure where you are but is there an early pregnancy unit near you?

Wow that really is less than helpful! I've had two mc's and both times I had a lot of pain and generally after you start to bleed the volume increases a lot! But for him to say take a test is useless because I showed positive until two weeks after my loss and many other women are the same the only real way to check is to scan. I would contact your local early pregnancy unit can usually find online or to back to A&E and push for more. So sorry you are going through this and I really hope the no pain is a good sign xx
