TMI* 4 days until AF

Good morning! Quick question for you all. I am 4 days until AF and my cervix is still high and very soft. I have been checking my cervix for months and it is always low and hard way before now. I am completely convinced this is a good sign but I'm getting a BFN. Possibly taking the test too early so I'm not testing again until AF is due (if I don't get it) I'm just wondering if your cervix is or is not a truly good way to indicate pregnancy. Any advice? (I've also had cramping about 4 days ago SO bad it woke me up) not sure what this is.
