Whooping cough vaccination???

My midwife said to me to consider having a vaccination in this period of pregnancy - 29-34 weeks.  Its whooping cough vaccination . She sais that it's up to me if I want it or not? Anyone knows anything about this vaccine?

Whooping cough (pertussis) is making a bit of a comeback right now because the shot didn't last as long as they originally thought (only 5 years not 10). My husband and I got it and my immediate family all got boosters because it can be extremely dangerous for a baby to catch. Personally it was a no brainer for us, especially for me to get it because it will offer baby some protection until he can get it too.

I'm in CA and we have whooping cough outbreaks all the time. It can be fatal to infants who are not yet vaccinated.. They basically suffocate from coughing. I'll be getting the TDAP (which has 2 other vaccines in the mix) but when you get it durning the 3rd trimester, you are protecting yourself and the baby in case someone who has been exposed comes in contact with your family. I'm also having my husband and mom get vaccinated since they will be handing the baby so much.

She's suggesting it because newborns are intensely vulnerable to pertussis (whooping cough) and if you're even carrying it, not presenting symptoms, if the baby gets it, he or she could die. Get the vaccine, don't risk it.

Definitely got it! If there's a way to prevent your baby from getting deathly ill, why wouldn't you take the opportunity. My husband and older daughter also got theirs.

I can't get the vaccine, I'm allergic too it. If someone has whooping cough around me before treated it can be deadly to me.
