The right days to.....

Been trying to conceive for a year....Am I trying on the right days really? Even though I'm using ovulation calendars and etc.... But It seems to be happening(sex) one day of the days when Im fertile and before or after my cycle. So not exactly planned...Should I be trying every fertile day and exactly on my ovulation day?
