Working with dogs...hazard or no?

Question

I am currently just over 5 weeks and on the weekends I take care of 30-40 dogs. I am paranoid that if they jump and hit my stomach that something might happen. Am I just being overly cautious or would it be best to not work around the dogs while pregnant?

I worked at a doggy daycare when I found out i was pregnant. At 7 weeks I had to go to the hospital for bleeding and cramping. After an ultrasound I was told I had a torn placenta, most likely from being jumped on.

My family doctor put me on bedrest until the tear was healed and now medically I can't lift anything over 3-5 pounds, work full time, do any strenuous work, and some other work related things.

It has really limited what I can do. I would look for a new job. It was hard to say goodbye to all the dogs but baby comes firsr

I would say you're fine, maybe pass the great Danes and other big dogs onto a co-worker but for the most part you will be okay! Baby is very cushioned in there if you do get the occasional jumper(: my dog is a German Sheppard coyote mix and she is ALWAYS jumping but I have found that if I turn my back to her and ignore her then she stops. I turn around and praise her, if she jumps again then she gets my back again! It works pretty well(:

I also work with dogs and my Dr knows. She said its fine. I just need help with the big ones. Maybe some one else can work with the big unruly dogs for you. I'm pretty good about getting out of the way when I see they want to jump on me.

You just have to renforce the no jumping rule! If they jump turn around and show no attention to them. If that doesn't work a swift smack on the nose will Help too!
