Does anyone else think this is strange?

Question

So my MIL has been driving me crazy and I'm trying to figure out if what she is doing is strange or if I'm just being weird and need to drop it. She keeps bringing up to me the fact that she was given a crib and that she already has it set up. I don't even have a crib yet. I really don't understand why she thinks she needs a full blown crib my mother will only have a pack and play for when she keeps our daughter. Back during Mother's Day she brought some clothes out to show me and I was very happy she had picked some things up for us. After showing me she told me that she was just going to keep him there at the house with her and took them away from me. Then this weekend she takes pictures of her yard sale finds and I once again was very thankful she had picked up the bouncy seat, play saucer, and a baby bathtub. Come to find out, they are not for me and my husband, they are for herself. Why does she even need a baby bathtub?! I don't even have these things?! Does anyone else think this is weird or am I just over reacting? Sorry for the long post I needed to vent..

She sounds super excited about her grand baby!  That can be incredibly frustrating when she views the baby's future differently than you do. ..probably thinking of all the time you guys will spend over there now, and the baby-sitting she gets to do... I wouldn't be too hard on her.

I would talk to her about it though- it does sound like she's 'stepping on your toes' a bit. Just say he/she might not be at grandma's often enough to warrant getting ALLthat- he/she's going to grow up really fast, after all!

Lols that's hilarious. Sounds like she is "nesting". On the bright side, she is enthusiastic. She may be a bit cray cray but try to think of it in a positive light. Some don't have their mothers to fuss over a new baby or they just don't simply care. Try to laugh at it! Bc after the baby is born all of this will be a memory.

Wow! I would be so very irritated by this! However I wouldn't personally say anything to her to preserve the relationship...id let my husband say something or mention it to her when I wasn't around. I can understand her being prepared with certain things but unless she's going to be keeping the baby when you return to work full time or something like that, a lot of those things seem over kill to me. Who buys clothes and doesn't give them to the parent? The clothes/baby bath/and crib are all a little much. I can understand a pack n play, a swing maybe...but not all that stuff...it's her grandchild, not her child after all. Just my opinion. Good luck lol.

My MIL has done the same. She has over 200 pieces of clothing for the baby also. It has aggrevated me to no end. I have tried talking to her and had my husband try to talk to her but she doesn't listen to him either.

I have to admit that I would probably be annoyed if my MIL was doing that as well. However, truth is that I'm currently frustrated with the in laws about other issues so that probably why.  Especially since my own mom has purchased thing like a pack and play, bouncy chair and diapers for her own home. She told us that she wants us to know that we can drop by any time even if it's out of the blue. I think it's sweet. 
Could you be finding it annoying because there are underlying issues like there is with me?

It's her grandchild she is entitled to have stuff at the house for when they are at her house. It's not really her problem that you haven't got that stuff in yet.

She is probably just as excited about becoming a grandma as you are about becoming a mom, cut her some slack and try to appreciate that someone else already loves your baby that much that they are preparing well to look after baby.

My parents and MIL are all far away and they all have basic baby gear at their house for when we come to visit: crib or pack n play, bath tub, bouncer, high chair etc. They don't have clothes, that's a bit weird but everything else seems reasonable.

When my MIL first messaged me to say she was buying a crib I freaked out and told DH to call her and tell her not to, a pack n play would be fine but she responded saying that it was a good deal and it was convertible so it would work for visits for years to come.

We made it clear that we would only be able to come visit once or twice a year but they still wanted to have things ready so we could be comfortable when we visit.  They're grandparents, spoiling their grandkids is what they do ;)

My mom has an entire nursery and play too. At her house. It's so nice to be able to go there and not have to bring anything!!! I don't get why you'd be annoyed that she's excited and buying things

Omgggg!!! My MIL does the same thing!!!! It's so weird! She has all these diapers, clothes, a crib, a whole nursery set up. I mean it's great and all, but I feel some sort of way about it because I don't even have all of that yet. And she's keeping it all at her house.

Does anyone else think this is strange?
