Why??

Why is it that humans are the most superior to everything? No-I am not referring to the gorilla incident, just in general. Why is a humans life valued more than an animals? Why are we at the top of the chain? People pay no mind to those farm animals being abused daily, but if it was a human being abused, it'd be all over tv and social media. Animals were here first so why aren't they given the same respect that humans are given? Just some food for thought

All animals look out for their own species first, that's nature.

I'm a huge animal lover and I think the conditions in factory farms are deplorable. We should do better by all animals.

That said if I can only save a human child or a puppy from a runaway truck. I'd save the child, and I think the majority of people would make the same choice. We've simply evolved to protect our own first.

We do anything to ignore what makes us feel bad. That includes letting something suffer.

It's because that's how it is.  We weren't always at the top but natural selection has put us there.  Animal abuse is also against the law.  Does it happen of course just like human abuse.

I think that we aren't necessarily superior, however, we have evolved and nature or God, or whatever you believe has given us the strongest weapon of them all. Think about it. We don't have claws, we can't run that fast in comparison to animals, we don't have a hard shell to protect us, we don't have fur, we haven't the most distinguished sense of smell or sight... But what do we have? Our brain. And thus with it we create clothes, guns, glasses, telescopes, cars, etc., all to make up for our "disadvantaged" body (which is btw very useful for serving the brain, deft fingers, agile limbs, etc.). That's why we are the "strongest" in the chain, that's why we are "superior", in a way
