Age Gaps

Alright, I realize I'm probably being stupid (and overthinking this, etc.), but I *am* slightly worried about this. 😓

So. I am 17. I turn 18 in 4mo, and my boyfriend is 20yo, going on 21 in 4mo as well. There's been NOTHING sexual between us, and he's been very respectful/understanding about it all. But we live in two different states (I'm in Cali, he's in Texas), and the ages of consent are different (CA-18, TX-17). I guess what I'm trying to ask is if following the laws of my state or his are the better option? I really, REALLY like him (bordering on the "L" word, even) and I don't want him to get in trouble (legally). :U
