Finding out gender through a blood test?

Question

So, I'm 11 weeks pregnant & I've recently read women's posts about finding out their baby's genders at 9-11 weeks by getting a blood test instead of an ultrasound? I have to wait till 20 weeks to find out my gender with an ultrasound but if there's a blood test... I mean why wait another 9 weeks?

Someone educate me on this topic please!

I did a blood test. My doctor said it will only be $20. Hopefully she was telling the truth! I took the blood test at 10 weeks.

I'm doing the blood test in 4 days, it can tell you the gender but it's also to test for abnormalities. I only have to pay 130$

My doctor offered the option to have a test called Panorama which tests for genetic abnormalities and gives the option to know the gender as well. Since I'm not consider high risk for genetic abnormalities my insurance wouldn't pay for it. It was $100, we decided it was worth it. Hope to have results soon!!
