Avoiding Conflict???
I need advice! I've been dating my boyfriend for a little over 4 months and we get along really well, any problems that have come up we've talked out and it's been fine. I've had one other serious relationship and I always felt afraid to get angry/speak up if I had a problem with something, so we never fought but it put a barrier on how well we learned to communicate with each other.
So with my current boyfriend, he always comments about how well we get along and how he loves that I don't yell at him. He had a relationship with someone who was very critical of him and I think the fact that I'm not like that is kind of like a pleasant surprise.
Anyway, I feel like we had our first "official" fight today. It was over text and it was wasn't ugly or anything it was just the first time we've let something go before we can work it out, because I'm at work right now. I'm so afraid of fighting because I'm so scared of him running away and just breaking it off instead of dealing with it- the same fear I had in my last relationship.
A big part of what we're disagreeing about is my mom, him and her don't get along. I'm getting put in the middle now and I feel like if I insist he drop it or ignore parts of her personality he'll just break up with me. Am I crazy?? Does anyone have any experience with a situation like this and can shed some light? I'm just really scared.
For anyone that has any insight they can share, thank you so much for reading this and taking the time to reply! I just feel scared for 20 minutes from now when I have to go home and get to see and hear his tone of voice and how he really feels, since it's hard to pick that stuff up over text.
