Fake, temporary engagement ring?

The other night I was at Walmart looking at rings on the rotating thing. And I asked my boyfriend to come pick one out for me. I didn't know that they were engagement rings and they were $9! Is it wrong to want him to buy me a $9 dollar engagement ring for now until we are ready to actually get married and show it off as if we were actually engaged?
