IUD ?

Hi ladies! 
So I've been really looking into getting and IUD lately. I take daily medication already and don't do very well with keeping to the schedule so I feel an IUD is easy in the aspect of in and done. I want one for my periods to stop and for sex. Which would be the best one? I've looked into Mirena so far.

Mirena or Liletta (they're basically the same, and insurance companies will ask you take Liletta).

Liletta is newer, so it's not as well known, but the only difference between it and Mirena is brand name. Hormone wise, I think they're the best, easy and carefree forms of birth control.

As far as side effects go, I have no idea. This Tuesday I get the Liletta inserted, and so I'll be figuring out side effects first hand real soon.

Mirena is your best bet if you want to stop your periods!! unfortunately, you'll be spotting for 3-6 months and by then your periods should stop.

I got Liletta (very similar to Mirena, but they donate contraception to women in third world countries when you get one) about 6 months ago, haven't had a period since. Maybe a couple days of light spotting after getting it inserted, but that's about it. I absolutely love it.

No one ever mentioned the paraguard iud. It's amazing. No hormones or weight gain or mood swings. Best iud out there.

I got the mirena 6 weeks after I gave birth to my daughter and I loved it. After getting it you do cramp up a bit but I was lucky enough to stop my periods immediately and for the 5 years after that. Unfortunately in my experience I did gain a lot of weight and my sex drive was basically gone. The last year I had it I cramped a lot and sex hurt me to the point that I thought the IUD was poking my uterus. Positive side was I never got pregnant and my SO and I completely eliminated condoms too. I'd get it again but honestly 5 years is enough and I do think your body needs to rest and needs to go back to its normal function. Maybe I'm wrong for suggesting this but if you decide to get it and feel like you don't want it anymore and don't have the money to get it removed, take it out yourself. My SO took mine out because it hurt me the most in the last couple of months I had left. No blood, no pain, and you do feel relief.

Like some of these ladies, I got Liletta really recently. Nobody really mentioned this, but that shit HURTS to put in. I have a difficult uterus, not a low pain tolerance. With to Vicodin, I still cried. I had a precious failed attempt to insert, because I have suchhhhh a hard uterus to sound.

I had the Mirena for 5 years, and now have Skyla. Skyla is kind of Mirena's little sister- smaller, lower dose of hormones, and lasts 2 years less.

It really hurt getting the first IUD inserted, and I spotted for about 6 months. Getting it removed wasn't nearly as bad.

Your other option is copper- good for 10-12 years, but may make your periods heavier.

My sister had it and she hated it because it hurt but there are a plenty and a variety of birth control options
