Fibroids in uterus and cyst in an ovary.Can I still get pregnant? :(

Question

Just back from an ultrasound. The technician told me that I have uterine fibroids and 1 cyst in 1 ovary.I am still waiting for a call from the doctor about  next steps but I want to know if this can be cured by medicine or surgery and also if I can conceive if I have fibroids and cyst...Another question..if I have a surgery then will my insurance cover it? (I have united health PPO).

You can have surgery to fix and should be able still to get pregnant. Cysts are pretty common, most can go away on their own. Fibroids can cause difficulty TTC but can be removed in an outpatient surgical procedure (expect a little downtime afterward), but can absolutely allow you to get pregnant once they're out -- my coworker successfully carried healthy twins and had fibroids removed. Do find a good specialist you trust to do the surgery however as scar tissue can occur that could potentially cause complications down the road. About your insurance? That depends. Some UHC PPOs cover fertility/elective procedures and some do not. Fibroids may be able to be coded as medically necessary, especially if you have painful periods or other reasons to get them removed, so perhaps you can get some coverage. Depends otherwise on your deductible limits and elective coverages. I'd call your insurance company to find out.
