When do you typically get ultrasounds

Question

Assuming everything is normal throughout pregnancy,  when do you get ultrasounds through the doc?  I've had one at 20 weeks(only one I've had through insurance, had 2 I paid for).. I'm 30 in 2 days. I don't go back to the doc for a week in a half and that's just for glucose test. I wanna see my boy and make sure everything is okay & he's growing how he needs to be.

I only had two at my doctors office. One at 9 weeks to confirm my pregnancy and see how far along I was to give me a more accurate due date, and the second was at 20 weeks for the anatomy scan and gender reveal. my office doesn't do any more after that unless you're considered high risk

My office just gives out two. First to confirm, and then second for the anatomy scan around 20 weeks. But I got a third one during 12 weeks along with my harmony genetic testing. I'm planning to go somewhere else to get a HD one done and pay out of pocket! Can't wait for that one around 30-32 weeks :) I suggest you do that too!

I'm 31 weeks and I begged my doctor to give me another ultrasound, even said I'd pay out of pocket for one. I haven't had one since I was 19+4. But she said my son is just way too big now :(

Most doctors will usually do a dating/viability scan early and then the anatomy scan at 18-22 weeks. Anything after that is really optional just depends on the doctor. Some will do another scan around 34-36 weeks to see how big baby is, but not all the time.

I'm in Canada and from what I have heard is standard is they usually do one between 10-12 weeks to date the gestation, there is an optional one for 14-16 weeks to check for spinal bifita and down syndrome and then the anatomy scan between 18-20 weeks. After that I don't think they really do any unless you are high risk or they are concerned about the position of baby as you get closer to your due date...

I'm in Canada as well as my doctor does a dating/viability scan around 8 weeks then there is the option of doing the testing for Down syndrome between 11-13 weeks. That is an ultrasound followed by bloodwork. Then the 20 week anatomy scan and then there is usually a late ultrasound to double check growth near the end. The late ultrasound isn't always done though, it's situational.

I believe most doctors only give 2 ultrasounds. One around 12 weeks and one at 20 and some only do a 20 weeks scan.

Usually I think it's at 12 weeks to confirm dates and then again at 20 weeks to determine sex if the mother isn't high risk that is
