Calling all guinea pig owners!!!

I just got one yesterday my friend gave him to me. I'm new in this so I have a few questions if you can PLEASE help me i want the best care for him.

-can a guinea pig survive alone? Will he be okay? Or do i really need to get another one? And if I do will he be fine if its also a boy?

-How do i bathe him? And what kind of shampoo is the best?

-He sheds a lot. How can i stop that?

-And what type of cage should i get? And what are the best toys?
