Smart girls: Do you feel like you aren't supposed to be sexy?

It feels like in movies, tv, pop culture, and most definitely porn, like the sexy ones are always, not necessarily dumb, but silly, or they aren't interested in the big questions. I've always been known for my smarts, but on some level I feel I can't be attractive/sexy and still be taken seriously.

Maybe I'm imagining this. What do you think?

I understand how you feel! My recent ex used to always call me the smart girl but never called me the pretty girl. He told me another girl was a pretty girl but only told me he was more attracted to me when I put him on the spot and asked straight out....but smart is sexy! So is dumb! Literally every woman no matter her strengths can be sexy when they wanna be. Don't let anyone tell you different!

Being intelligent is sexy. If you're hot that's one thing but if you're hot & going somewhere in life then thats a huge turn on.

I'm in vet school after getting in after only two years of doing my undergrad (which is very rare in Canada) and I've won multiple scholarships and awards. I've been on the Dean's List since my first semester of university too. So I'd say I'm pretty smart. But I'm also allowed to be sexy. I dress up in pretty clothes, I do my hair, nails and make up. I enjoy feeling pretty and sexy. Just because you're smart doesn't mean you can't be sexy/pretty. And just because you're pretty doesn't mean you can't be smart either.

My bf and I have talked about this numerous of times, and I've come to believe that Hollywood rarely portays one or the other. OR, in order to be the smart one, sometimes you also have to be pretty (movies where the woman is a badass [i.e. Salt]).

As a society, we tend to think that girls who aren't pretty can't be smart, and girls who aren't smart can't be pretty, but you also can't be both at the same time (??thank??).

My bpyfriend makes sure I know I'm both (and man, I definitely am).

Smart IS sexy! I use it to my advantage to flirt. If he can handle my quick wittiness or sarcasm it's a plus because it shows he's smart enough to catch the joke.

I'm smart and sexy. You do not have to dumb yourself down just because your pretty. Hell if your smart and pretty don't hide it. No one should ever hide who they are or try to cover it up because they are smart or pretty. Be who you are :)
