When to get engaged?

How many years should you and your SO be together before your engaged. It will be five years for us in Oct, we already live together and have a 2 1/2 year old as well

I've been with my boyfriend a little over a year and I was ready for the ring just months into our relationship. he got me a promise ring last Christmas and makes remarks about how he can't wait to get married... but needs a little more money before he can buy the ring.
I'm so in love that I'd marry him today without the ring!! You two have been together an awful long time to not AT LEAST be engaged... maybe you should ask him if it's worth the wait or if you're just wasting your time. The question should've been popped years ago in my opinion.

I met my husband, spend the weekend together when we met, he lived in another state bc of military, so the next weekend i moved in, we got engaged, married not even 3 weeks later, been married almost 5 months now and love it.  We only talked over skype for about a week before we met. Hes the best part of me, no regrets!! Good luck!!☺️

Everyone is different we got engaged after 7 weeks together! We have been together 9.5 years and married just over 8 years! We don't have any children as we have been unable to conceive as I have fertility problems but we are a strong couple and as much as children would be amazing he is my world and my rock and wouldn't change a thing about him! So I say whenever as couple you feel ready!!

I think every couple is different. My guy and I were together 4 years before we got engaged. I know if I were in your situation I would probably want to be engaged! Make sure you communicate to your boyfriend that you want to be engaged if that's what you want :)

it totally depends if my boyfriend and I were older we would be engaged already but we aren't because of school and we've been dating for 2 years so we will probably wait like 2 more
