Is it rude if I tell my neighbors I'm sleeping when they want to come over?

my neighbors have 4 kids, and from the moment they see my boyfriend's truck pullout the driveway in the morning they want to come over. I love having them here, but I would also like sometime to myself. is it messed up if I don't open the door when they knock and later say I was sleeping?

Set boundaries before this starts to happen daily. 
When I first moved out with my boyfriend to an apartment I met a few of the people there and I never said no to them, because I'm honestly just a nice person, felt rude to say no go away. Anyways, it got to the point where they literally came over every single day, even when I told them "hey I need me time today " they would still come over asking for stuff or wanting to hangout. I wish I set boundaries from day one, it avoids all the awkwardness.

So no, it's not rude. When people knock or try to come over without telling me I will ignore them. I usually say I'm in the shower and didn't hear them or I was sleeping. Haha doesn't feel rude anymore.

I never answer my door if I'm not expecting someone. If I didn't invite you then it is rude to just show up. So i would just tell them that you need time to yourself and would appreciate that.

I would get a little flag thing you can put up when it's okay for them to come over.  In my neighborhood our pool is like the hangout spot, because my best friend and her sons come over almost every day and they have a lot of friends.  So I have a little garden stake flag thing that if it's up they know they can come over, if it's not, they don't.
