I'm 16, my boyfriend is 16. Last night I told him I wanted to wait a year until we have sex and he freaked out. He said he couldn't wait that long and that he wants it within the next five months. I asked if he was using me for sex, he said no. I've always told him since our first conversation that I wanted to wait until I was ready and he said that was fine. He said he wouldn't pressure me and now he's pressuring me. I feel devastated. I also am in love with him. He told me that he wouldn't break up with me if we didn't have sex within five months, he just wants it

Look, you're young (not trying to patronise you) but you don't categorically know that in a year you would be ready for sex. Waiting until your ready is a massive DO by the way but you don't need to put a time frame on it as in 2 months you might feel ready. Your boyfriend is unfortunately just a 16 year old boy, he'll realise in time you have to wait for the best things in life. You should stay with him and see how it goes, him saying he wants it in 5 months is pressuring you a bit but if he starts being nasty to you about not having sex with him then let him know. And he's definitely not with you just for sex because he is willing to wait. All in saying is you don't know what could happen in 6, 8,10, 12 months time. I don't know if my SO and I will still be together, I hope we will obviously but you just don't know! X

Hon, me and my boyfriend waited until almost two years together. Don't let him pressure you into doing anything you don't want to do, that's why a lot of girls regret their first time. If you wait until you're ready, not just when your partner wants you to be ready, and you truly care about the person it can be amazing. It's natural for him to want sex earlier but that in no way entitles him to make you do something you're not ready for. If he can't accept that he's not worth it.

You could change your mine within the next year to 5 months when you feel ready then do it. In 5 months he probably won't even remember himself saying that if you guys do stay together.
