Hand food and mouth disease

So I have a 7 year old daughter and a 3 week old newborn. Somehow my SO got HFAM. The rash appeared yesterday evening and has gotten worse today. He was sick w flu like symptoms for two days before the rash appeared. I am terrified I or one of my children are going to get this from him. Especially my newborn. He is breastfed so I sit in the bed and feed him at night and occasionally he and I fall asleep so he spends extended periods of time in the bed. I'm wondering how terribly contagious this is and if I should maybe go stay at my moms house w the newborn or if that's unnecessary. Anyone help!?
