Is it too early to tell my family I'm 6 weeks

I had a scan today and all we could see was the sack and no baby.. She said its normal for this early but it's my dad's birthday on Thursday and I got him a top saying grandad to Brodyn, Flynn, buzz and coming Feb 17 but not sure if I should give him it this early or wait until my next scan in 2 weeks??
