Nipple Piercings?!!

Okay so let me start by saying I am not pregnant nor plan to be in the immediate future but I have heard that the possibility of breast feeding may not be possible if I have had nipple piercings...advice? thoughts? any ladies had experience, good/bad?

I had my nips pierced and took them out around week 16 when my nips started leaking. I've done a lot of reading online and having had your nipples pierced doesn't seem to have effected any women's ability to breastfeed! A lot of them were even saying that they kept them pierced and only took out the jewelry to feed, then put it back in after.
I didn't wanna deal with that hassle so I just took them out altogether lol
My mother was afraid that it may cause my milk to flood baby's mouth and possibly cause choking, however one lady compared nipple piercings to "poking two holes into an already hole-y sponge", explaining how it won't make your milk spill out any faster. So I was worried at first but now I'm not 😁

I had mine done but I took them out a few years ago. I still have the holes. Doesn't seem to effect anything. Milk just comes out of the holes sometimes.

I have mine done. I'm 34 weeks. I've had to have the piercer change the bars since my boobs grew and just had them checked last week to make sure they were still fitting properly. I asked my piercer before I got them about breast feeding. She said having your nipples pierced does not affect breast feeding at all. She said I need to take them out when I do feed because the baby could suck on the jewelry and swallow it but just to use vasoline or lotion to put them back in. She said it will be a hassle but if I want to keep the piercing that's what I have to do when I feed or pump. I also got mine months before I even got pregnant so they would be fully healed when it came to breast feeding. My dr has also seen them and has said the same as the piercer the jewelry has to come out when I feed the baby or pump. I plan on keeping mine.

I can actually relate. I am 25 weeks pregnant and just removed my nipple rings this evening. My midwife discovered them during my physical and when we talked about breast feeding she said it could be done but would recommend me removing them since they could hurt the baby's mouth. Also a reason as to why I removed them was they started giving me pain.
