Sharp upper abdominal pain

I've had pain that felt kind of tight or like cramps in my lower abdomen before and I've been told not to worry about those. But today when I woke up I felt sharp pain all across the top of my stomach and it hurt so bad that I actually said "ow!". Nothing had hurt like that before. I'm wondering if it could be my baby hitting a nerve? But it wasn't lightening crotch, it was very high so I'm not sure. I'm just a little worried and was wondering if someone else had experienced this? Im a FTM.
