Birth Control?

Hey Ladies, so I am 14 and currently not having sex and not planning on it. I get extreme periods with heavy cramps and backpain to the point where I can't move. I also struggle with acne that I have been breaking out around the time of my period. I am thinking about going on birth control next time I go and see my dermotologist. Any suggestions or tips? Help me out!

When I was 14-15 I tried the pills from a derm, special face foam wash, ect. Nothing worked for my acne. When I was 15 1/2 I had my first period and my acne was so much worse and I experienced the same things you are. Puberty is ROUGH. When I turned 16 my mom asked if I wanted to try the pill out. I agreed (I wasn't sexually active and it didn't interest me at the time). My first month on the pill was a horror show. My period was the heaviest. I bled through everything. Had to be checked out of school.  After a few months everything was better! SO MUCH BETTER. Throughout the years (I'm almost 23) I've tried the IUD, shot, and Nexplanon (all 3 had awful side effects) so I'm sticking with the pill. The pill you DO have to take every day at the same time (it can mess up your cycle and if you ever do decide to have sex (please wait until after you graduate) then you will be protected). Be open with your parents and doctor(s). Choose what would be best for your body type. If you don't like it...give it a few months (if the symptoms are too much) then switch. Just some advice! Hope you find some relief! Try using a heating pad on your stomach/lower back when you sleep during your period. Eat dark chocolate. Drink tons of water. Don't forget about vitamins. You lose iron during your period too. I have to double up on mine during that time but not so much anymore thanks to birth control! Hope this helps! ☺️

Everyone's body is different. Your doctor will probably give you 4 options: the pill, the shot, the patch, and the implant in your arm. There are upsides and downsides to everyone so you just have to weigh the pros and cons and decide which one is best. Personally I just can't trust the patch & I have had way too many friends have problems with the implant. I was on the shot for a while and while on it I didn't get a period but did gain some weight and developed some headaches. I didn't have a lot of acne then either.  Now I'm on the pill and my period is back but really short. I would just research and talk to your doctor. Good luck!

the pill ? it makes your periods lighter , shorter and helps with cramps 😊 and it helps protect against acne !

You're doing exactly what you need to 😊 Id mention it to your dermatologist and talk to your regular doctor about it as they're the one who will prescribe it to you. They'll probably prescribe you a pill to help. Good luck!
