Can you birth a child and not be considered a mom?

I know you can still be a mom if you haven't given birth (adoption, have a misscarriage etc)
My question to you all is can you birth a baby and not be considered a mom? 
I read a story the other day about a girl who threw her baby in the dumpster and when she got caught she said horrid things about how it was gonna ruin her life and called the baby vulgar names. (A couple adopted it who can't have kids and loves the little boy more than anything now) 
But I don't consider that first girl a mom. I consider her ... A birth giver. What's your opinions?

In all technical terms, yes, you still have the title of mother, BUT my opinion on the matter is this:

Just because you give birth, doesn't make you a mother in the same way that just because a man helps you create a child with his sperm, it doesn't make him a father.

My biological father has never been in the picture unless it was convenient. He's only seen my daughter once, due to an awkward encounter in Walmart. To me, he isn't my father. He's a man who helped create me. My step dad, has been in my life nearly 20 years now and when I talk about my dad, he is who I refer to.

Some people don't understand, but to me, being a mother, father, sister, grandchild etc. is so much more than just a title. It's something that you are given, but still needs to be earned! Period!

I'm adopted, and my birth mother is nothing but a egg donor. The only time now when she speaks to me, is on my birthday. That pissed me off on my birthday last month. So  yes,  you can birth a child, and not be a mother. A mother would actually give two fucks about the child she birthed.

A mother isn't just a woman who pushes out a baby. To me a mother is a person who cares, feed and loves her child more than anyone in the world and is there to support their child, guide them through their mistakes and challenges, teach them that getting a period isn't as scary as it sounds, any woman can have a baby, a mother is something entirely different to me

I've always separated "mother" and "mom".

A mother/father is someone who biologically created offspring.

A mom/dad is someone who reared/cared for a child.

Sometimes they are the same person, sometimes they are not.

My mother had 3 kids, lived in the house with us all our lives and I still don't consider her "a mom". Technically she is but practically/emotionally/socially she never fulfilled the role.

I went to high school with someone who has to date birthed 5 kids since 07 and claims she is their mother. No she isn't. All families have closed the adoption after getting to know her.

She is a gestational carrier and nothing more.

I know plenty of people who have birthed children that they do absolutely nothing for. I don't consider them mothers.

In the situation you mentioned she is nothing more than an incubator. Being a mother means loving your child and giving them the best life you can. I personally believe that this includes birth mothers who know they can't provide for their child and go through the effort to find a loving family who can give their child the best life. Giving a child up for adoption requires and incredible amount of love and care to admit that you aren't what's best for that baby and make a choice to give them what they deserve.

Is that not obvious with the amount of women forced to carry to term, or pressured to have children for the reasons of others while they aren't ready or don't want them?

If you have zero regard for that child's life you are not a mom.  Even moms who have abortions are considered moms to me.  But if you throw your kid in a dumpster or purposely harm the child you are not a mom.  You are an egg donor that's it!   Moms are women who take care of their child.  Not matter what, even with adoption and abortion you are still a mom because you cared for your child and did what was best for them!!
