Lexapro for anxiety?

I have pretty terrible anxiety, it prevents me from getting out of my house. I am so against medication but it's so bad that I feel like I need to do something about it. 
I went to a physiatrist who prescribed me Lexapro. If anyone has ever taken this for anxiety please give me an expirence (hopefully a good one)

I would swear by it. I have no noticeable side effects at all and it has helped me SO much. I'm not crippled by social anxiety anymore. I still struggle some, but nowhere near as much. I hope you have the same experience!

I actually only take it when I get an anxiety attack and last night was a bad one and it worked in like 30 min. I stopped shaking and calmed down immediately.

Yes. I was prescribed Buspar at first for my anxiety. It helped but not all the way. I went back and I was prescribed lexapro with my buspar. Lexapro really helps.

Just take it at night if it makes you sleepy. I felt run down until I switched to night time.
