Is my doctor doing her part?

Okay, I am just wondering if my doctor is really doing everything she needs to be doing, I go to my appointment they weigh me, take my blood pressure then when the doctor comes in she asks how I'm feeling, asks if I have any questions, checks the baby's heartbeat and we're done.  I feel like she should be the one telling me what I need to know...I shouldn't be the one needing to ask all the questions...?? I am 13 weeks now.

This is typical of my appointments every other month and I don't like it either!! I feel like I'm paying you to tell me what I need to know or things I should expect this month, something!! So far I ask maybe two questions because I don't know the things I need to be asking! I google a lot of stuff but still. I'm paying you. Idk 😕

Normal. It's up to you to speak up if you have specific questions or concerns. Otherwise they ask what they need and assume you're fine unless you say otherwise

Was this just a follow up or your first appointment?The  doctor has no idea what you do or don't know and there's too much general information to cover in one visit (I think its normal for most doctors to focus on the  medical and technical aspects of pregnancy). It may be helpful for you to buy a baby book and as you read, write down any questions you may have for the doctor. That way you feel more informed and if you have any doubts you can double check with her.

I hear that is a huge difference between an OB and midwife. OBs are more about checking on health and midwifes are more of a support when it comes to the whole pregnancy experience. My OB does the exact same. She checks mine and baby's stats and sends me on my way.

That's what my doc does but this last app I got paper work for maternity leave and to figure out my birth plan went over blood work and how I was feeling but yours sounds pretty normal btw I m 28w 3days

Thats pretty typical  at you're first appointment they give the basics and then just monitor after that everything to make sure you're normal. If you have a question then they will answer it otherwise they will inform of when you need bloodwork, ultrasounds or if they see something abnormal with your vitals.
