A Letter to Our Son
Hi baby
I wanted to talk to you about your dad. Son, your father has been through alot. A family member took his innocence before he was even in school.. it has really affected the way he sees and interacts with people, especially men. His father also gave him and the rest of his family a rough life growing up and wasnt around much. He grew up a trouble maker, getting into all kinds of trouble in school, but boot camp straightened him right up though after a particularly bad stunt.
After all this, he is different. He is not like his twin brother, who is open, blunt, sociable. Son your father is quiet, pretty akward in social situations, and doesnt have the greatest cofidence. But he has the biggest heart. He is the hardest working person I know. The only reason you wouldnt see much of him is because his work hours but I promise to take you by his job sites to see how hard he works for us every single day in the hopes that it will inspire you
He is so excited to meet his little man, to teach him about cars, drifting, girls, and dress you up in Giants clothes. He is so excited to hold your tiny body in his arms and talk to you, he is so excited to read you to sleep with me and give you baths, he is so excited to get you in school and watch you accomplish great things, join the baseball team..
Son your father is different. I know I have said that but you need to know that he will love you. You were created with the most genuine love we have to offer. You were unexpected, yes, but he was so excited to find out you were coming into our lives.
He will raise you with tough love but dont worry he will never lay a hand on you anywhere but your butt (and that will be only if it's necessary). He will never make you feel worthless. He will never touch you inappropriately. He will never make you feel like you cant accomplish something. He will support you.
You want to know how I know this? Because that's how he is with me. He encourages me and my dreams, if he forgets to kiss me when he walks out the door, he stops walking, smiles, turns around, and comes and kisses me. He always checks on me to see if I'm doing okay. He helps me with dinner, he helps me with cleaning if I need it. You can tell alot about how a man will be as a father by the way he treats the mother.
To our beautiful son, you will be loved. I just want you to give your father a little patience as you get older. You will never grow up in a broken home. You will never know what divorced children go through, like both of us do.
So please, give him a little patience and alot of respect. He will be tough on you sometimes but it's because in this crazy world, he wants you to grow up with respect and self control.
We both love you so much Samuel Theodore James. We cant wait to see you in November.
