Can I drink water while fasting?

Question

For the 3-hour glucose test? I take it today at 11am but I am up at 5:30am and have school then test. Can I have some water in between or nothing at all?

Mine said I had to fast for 12 hrs and no water after midnight. Every place is different though

Yes you can drink water

You can drink water prior to the test but you can't have anything after you've drank your drink until after they draw your blood. It dilutes the test.

I would ask your doctor - I only had the one hour but they told me to drink water specifically because they will be drawing blood which is really difficult if you're dehydrated
