has anyone been told they have small hips?

previous birth, my doctor told me i have small hips but because baby was small (weighs 5 lb 5oz at birth) thats why he can pass through natural birth,  she also said i might need c section if baby was measuring more than 6 lb 10 oz, and now baby #2 weighs 6 lb 2 oz at an ultrasound 2 weeks ago (36 weeks 5 days).. this really stressing me out, i cant eat without being scared i wont be able to give birth naturally, anyone of you has small hips but gave birth to big baby?

I am with a midwife group and saw the tiniest girl deliver an almost 10lb baby. I don't know why doctors do this to women. This is what our bodies are meant to do don't worry mama a 6lb baby is still so tiny!

It has nothing to do with the width of your hips visually/physically, it's the size of your pelvic opening. My mom had this problem with me and I never should have been born vaginally. They had to forcep me out after 29 hours of labor. She had 2 csections after me and they told her again they never would have made it through. I was only 6lbs. Her hips were deformed due to juvenile arthritis though. Listen to your doctor and trust they're protecting you and your baby, that's what they're there for.

I had a rough delivery with my daughter at 39 weeks, she was 6 lbs 11 oz. I needed assistance with an episiotomy and a vacuum because my doctor said my birth canal was very narrow. I'm currently 38+5 and scheduled to be induced on Monday because doc doesn't want me going to 40w with the worry that this baby will be too big for me to push. Fingers crossed. I was surprised when the doctor said that I have a tiny pelvis.  I am NOT a small girl, so it never even crossed my mind. For this reason (and a couple of other reasons), they won't let me go past my due date.

I'm opposite. Super tiny-98lbs pre-pregnancy but my dr said I have a "generous pelvis" despite being really small.

I have seen small women with almost no hips deliver naturally and women with wide hips have to have c-sections. Everyone's body is different, and unfortunately you won't know if you can or not until the time comes 😑

Yep and they spread open when the time came to push the babe out! Even when I lost all of the prego weight, I could never fit back in my jeans because my hips had widened so much compared to before!

I asked my dr about this bc my mom had a narrow pelvic opening and wasn't able to naturally birth my brother who was almost 10lbs. Doctor says it can vary from pregnancy to pregnancy just based on how much the hormones open your pelvis. She said she's seen women naturally birth when she didn't think they could and she's seen people get c sections when she thought they'd birth vaginally no problem. No way to know until you're in labor.

With my first I ended up with an emergency c-section because I didn't listen to my doctor. She told me I had a small pelvis opening and my baby would have been around 8 pounds. However I pushed for a natural delivery and I didn't make it as planned. My baby came at 41 weeks 8.6lbs. I went through labor pain and got c-section. Now I'm not saying the same will happen to you, but just keep an open mind.
